I have four of them in a 120 gallon pond. 1 is 1 feet long and other two are 8 inches. The smaller one is 6 inches. have them in there for 8 months. Thought they had little space, so i am giving them a 1000 gallon plus pond in one week. i wanted to ask whether they will grow or not in that 1000 gallon pond. right now they are fat. Please reply.

They should grow well in the 1000g pond.

They should surely grow faster and bigger in the much bigger space (water changes are also important to flush out growth-inhibiting hormones) but overall beware that these are sub par genetic specimen - either culls from food fish operations or very cheaply and carelessly produced for aquarium trade in SEA or some such place. Thus instead of reaching 3-4feet they most usually (almost always in hobbyist hands in captivity) max out at 1.5-2.5feet even after 10, 20, 30+ years.

The variation in yours from 6" to 12" already shows their different genetic potential probably.

Farmers who farm these fish do have 4foot breeders but IDK how they get these breeders, not from a pet store for sure.

We had an albino in a 240 gal for 2-3 years and it'd not exceed 12" and not grow because it was nervous in such a small tank, hence underfed, so we transferred it to 4500 gal and in one year it was almost 2feet.

10 x 6 x 2ft should be okay for the sub par IDS we get in the trade.
