 I have a spare 48" 55 gallon tank.. what should i put in it? any suggestions.. if fish i dont want any fin nippers.. i'd rather appreciate the money put in, by having nice looking fish.. RARER the better perhaps who knows...????-josh

Are you looking for a solitary fish, community tank... what? Cichlids would be nice, so would a big school of tetras amoungst plants. Perhaps a pleco tank, or a tank with some eels.

:D ri€ght now my setup is focused on my 90G. i have a it with 7 tankmates...

Retic Ray(pup 5")
EBJDempsey (4.5")
Clown Knife(5.5")
Glass Knife (5")
Peckliota @.5 " Pleco
Gourami Blue/Opaline (3")
Betta 2.75"

Ive had south american cichlids, already.. maybe do some african CIc..

Maybe A Shiner tank for Ice-fishin/food for my 90gal.. Shiner/crayfish/crabs or sumthin?

Any other suggestions..

WTF... What's so funny...

What size tanks you got AquaticHolic???If you have any /\/\onster tanks, flip the 55 into a sump...It's a cool project that you and the fish will benefit from...Practice working with your hands and get into it, creating an awsome filter that'll make your fish flourish...

As for inhabitants...Maybe you are intrested in bottom dwellers, mids, or tops???A 55 will growout a small Rhom for awhile...Then eventually a longer, wider tank of 100+ will be needed...If not p's, then go for some low dwellers like Bichirs....Or, stick with a school of lively Exodons...

Since you are /\/\onster member, the 55 will eventually evolve into a sump or a Convict breeder...

If you want to make the 55gal a tank, I say go with a low tech/low maintenance planted tank with some nice big driftwood pieces and a school of Congo Tetras, maybe a Syno. cat and a Poly. senegalus.

..

That's exactly what I did with my spare 55:)

Get some Livebearers or Convicts and use it to breed some feeders.

See...All the o.g.'s(original groundsmen) know what I mean...

As for a planted tank, this idea definately works...Most, if not all, plant beginners begin with a 55 or smaller just because easier and lest expensive...Get a minimum of 2 watts per gallon for healthy lighting...Throw in some feeders, I mean some tetras for color...

A planted 55 gallon would be awesome, and then throw in some easy to breed livebearers, and you will have an easy source of feeders for your monsters!
