spare equipment, good idea?

hey I have lots of spare equipment around my fish area. I thought it would be a good idea to use them. I have a 10g tank that is drilled, bulkhead, mag 7, and 10ft of 3/4" pvc.

I was thinking of adding a ref or pothos tank, problem is my sump has no room with all the pond matrix.

2nd mag drive goes behind my mag 12, pumps it to the 10g, and then drains back via return. I'm not spending a dime on this so i was wondering if this is stupid. I have too much time on my hands.

Looks good to me. If you've got the time, the space and the spare parts I'd definitely give it a try. Would be extra efficient if you could put the 10G plant filter by a window to make use of natural light.
