I'll start by saying I dont know if this should go in the DIY thread or setup and filtration thread. My apologies if I got it wrong.

on with the show...

I live in a fairly new mobile home. It was build in 2005 and measures 86' x 16' 3 bedroom 2 bathroom huge living room (where my 90 is) and a kitchen (where my 20 is). I finally got the "moving in" mess cleared out of the 3rd bedroom. Now I have a spare room measuring 8'-4" x 8', an empty wallet, and a head full of ideas.:D

Overall I was thinking of putting several smaller tanks in there rather then big ones. Having a 90 already makes me paranoid enough. One that note I really should check if my home insurance will cover water damage if a tank were to break.

I few things I've always wanted to try are:

Breeding convicts
Breeding small corys
selective breeding with mollys
Breeding mealworms, after reading packer43064 's thread

The closet will work nicly for the mealworms.

What would you be doing with the spare room if you were in my shoes?

Put supports underneath the floor and build a tank as big as the room will allow.
A bunch of little tanks will be a pain to filter and do water changes on, and after all, this is MONSTER Fish Keepers.. just my 2 cents

If mobile homes had basements I would do it. If it breaks or something goes wrong there's nowhere for the water to go. Could you imagine 1376 square ft of water damaged floors? The floor would have to come out including all the insulation underneath the trailer. Were talking 10's of thousands of dollars in damages. That and its only half my trailer. I'm living with my brother and I know he wouldn't let that idea fly.

Unfortunately its out of the question.

It all depends on what the floor can support,if you were on a slab Id be full of ideas.I think a few 30 long tanks on dual stands would be fine and versatile enough for most breeding projects.

ps.if youre breading the fish do that in the kitchen, then bake.If youre breeding the fish, then yes a fishroom is a good idea.;)

isn't there a crawl space underneath the house? I would just put some 40 breeders in there if nothing else would fly with your brother. Otherwise, put the supports in while he's not home.

Lol oops spelling mistake corrected.
I can assure you the fish aren't being breaded!

Its not a house its a trailer. The only space underneath is inside the skirting which is uninsulated and exposed to the elements, it goes down to -40c (-40f) in the winter sometimes. There's about 2 feet of room under the trailer which you need to crawl on your stomach to access.;)

The insulation is in between the floor joists and is held up by a huge polyethylene tarp that covers the whole underside of the trailer, 1376 square feet.

EDIT: This tarp brings up another problem. There's no way to check where the joists are located because the tarp covers it all up.

well if a tank were to bust, easiest fix is to slap some wheels on the trailer, pull it out and park a new one in its place...cant do that with a house.....:grinno::grinno::grinno:

Well 99.9% sure the joists are running the width not the length of the house. That type of building is usually only built one way.tarps are flexible, you can poke at it till you feel solid, that would be a joist. What kind of ground is it on?if its fairly solid you could just put cinderblocks under the joists for added support.
