I have some lucky bamboo in my tank (I know its not a true aquatic, have it so that the leafy portion is out of the water), but recently it and my java fern have been hit with black beard algae. I didn't wanna put any amount of an algaecide into the aquarium so I just removed the plants into a small tank and added the algaecide to that. After reading a bit more, Ive heard people say the algaecide may in fact kill the plants in addition to the algae.....I only thought it dangerous to the fish.

Did I just potentially give them a death sentence or is this a bunch of BS?

(I know algaecide is not a long term solution, im decently confident the original cause of the black beard was too much light - which I have remedied. I just want the ugly black gone quickly)

I have found that the solution to BBA is to dose flourish excel, it is safe to plants, and almost always safe to fish.
