Sparkles the Oscar

i had a "5 Jag and a 4" convict that i needed to get rid of.......so knowing that my neighbor has a large tank i asked her if she would like them.

she stated "i think my oscar would eat them. his name is Sparkles."

i went on to tell her that my fish were not extremely small and that it would take a very large oscar to eat them.....she invited me in to see Sparkles.

Now as a lone fish in a 125G i figured he would be quite large.....it took her a few minutes to coax him out....but then to my shock out came Sparkles the most beautiful Oscar i had ever seen.....


i asked her where she got him and she told me..."From the Mall LFS."

after i stopped laughing i explained to her that Sparkles was actually a.......Jack Dempsey......she was shocked to think that a "Specialist" as she called them would have told her something wrong!!!! :ROFL:

Moral to the story.......unless you know what you are buying and even then.....dont buy from a mall LFS.

By the way the JD...JAG...and Convict are doing swell.

He's gone I burried him in the back yard, now a plant grows there like that book "Where the Wild Fern Grows", So I bought another tortoise and named him Speedy 2. Though I have to be careful if he goes under 55MPH he'll blow up.

I bought a small synspilum once that was labelled as a salvini and had someone try to tell me a firemouth was a jewel. :screwy: truth is I never buy from an lfs unless I know what it is or I want to grow it up to see what it is. I only ask the lfs people just to get a laugh. in fact, a lot of times I'll ask what something is even when I know what it is just to see what they'll tell me. :grinyes:
