When should I start looking for juvenile gar?

I found a place nearby where longnose spawn, and I'd like to know when I can go collect some 3" specimens (license permitting). I've read that they spawn in early summer, but that could mean anytime between now and the end of June. Also, I don't know how long it would take for the fry to reach 3". So, July-ish? August-ish? I don't want to miss the juvie stage.

Last year I started seeing adults around late may. This year I haven't spotted any adults yet, but have been checking most of the places I've seen them in the past.

Not sure exactly when they spawn, or what growth rate tends to be like.

Hope you don't mind me asking, where is the place your hoping to collect some.

I found a pdf that has some local fish & their mating seasons: http://www.rbg.ca/Document.Doc?id=32 on the bottom of page 2.

It says LNG spawn from May to September...?

LNG do not spawn from May until September... That's some rather poor data there. Plus location does not fit a spawning locality from that document.

Could you share when I should start looking for YOY?

How do you mean the location doesn't fit a spawning locality, though? What should I be looking for?
