Ive had dozens of Spawns of 700+ but always on a rock, driftwood or in a clay dish, very easy harvest. This pair spawned on the wall of 1500 gal landscapers water storage tank.Anybody have exp. with vertical spawnning,(fish not human)? These eggs are Superglued! Tried siphoning but stopped. Im guessing when they hit Larvae they will fall after 12 hours of wigglen? Anybody have any good advice for dicount Cichla??LOl Thankyou!!:grinno:

Congrats but Ya who knows about them being on the wall. In nature I would think they are not always going to be on the ground.

My jags just super glued their eggs to a completely vertical rock and the wrigglers were stuck for about a day before they came off the wall. I would assume the cichlas will be the same.

Good advice. Ill experiment @ every stage. Got plenty of eggs to work with, the band of eggs is 6"x36" horizontal, one ft off bottom. Thankyou Jake

My experience with cichla laying eggs on the wall is they don't get fertilized, at least in my case. My last spawn was like that and none hatched outta like 1000+ eggs - the spawn before this by the same pair went great, when she laid her eggs on a flat rock on the bottom - makes it easier for the male to fertilize then on the wall -

But I should probably add that the male in this pair is over 20" (huge) and pushing 6 years... Not as willing to get too crazy to fertilize the eggs if their harder to get to like a flat vertical surface -

My Monos always laid eggs on some structure on the bottom. The hatched in 72 hours. They always became golden brown @ the 48 hour point. The bad eggs stayed pale and turned fuzzy.

Cool congrats good luck!!
