does anyone in here like spearfishing? i didnt see any threads about it so i figured id start one. its a lot of fun, and obvoiusly you enjoy the underwater world more when your in it. in many respects its also more difficult than regular fishing... so if there are any spearos on here, this is your place to talk

I was, when I was younger. A very serious spear fisher. Also a scuba diver, but nithing beat spearfishing! how I miss it!
I love it! Favorite way to fish by far. Had a South African friend teach me. I feel it takes a lot more skill, knowledge, practice, and ability than most people realize. The good gear can get pretty expensive as well.
It's also very selective. You only take what you want. There are times when I've dove for hours and only taken one or two shots. That is by no means a bad day either. Just being in the water is a real treat.
I also love night diving for lobsters. That's a blast!!!

I am all freediver as well. I was out in LA this January, and wanted to get some spearing in, but never had the chance.
