I should be receiving my altifrons today and was wondering if there is anything special in their diet I need to provide, I will be feeding home cultured red wigglers, young marbled crayfish, the occasional blanched veggie and a high quality sinking cichlid pellet. Is there anything else I should provide? Thanks

We will see when they get here they should be pretty little I expect, supposedly about 4 months old, obviously I would be preparing the diet to suit their size. They will also get frozen brine shrimp to get them started.

Altifrons will eat nearly any meaty food product given to them, though may turn away greenery. It is important that altifrons get a good balanced diet including vegetable matter however, so try mushing some defrosted frozen food with mushed cichlid pellets and vegetable/spirulina flake or even mushed cucumber.

Sounds good, I will make sure they get some greens.

I would love to see pictures when you get them, I was also bidding on them on aqua bid but missed the end of the auction.

Sounds good Japes, thanks for all the good info you have given me on these guys.

cdc - Sounds like its a good thing for me you missed the end of the auction, I barely got them. I will try and get some pictures up early next week.

I, too, am shopping for a few today. The FS had them about a week ago. I am going today, without calling, keeping my fingers crossed. I currently have a jurupari and really dig him. Wish me luck.....
