:) Ok ladies and gentlemen...This month is the amazing Umbee, blues and greens, small and large:) Last month did great hopefully this month will kick off too. Ive noticed alot of wonderful umbees just being purchased and posted congrats to everyone. Maybe we can get a lil more detailed in information on umbees so those of you who are keeping umbees for the first time will be able to get some helpful tips from experienced keepers. That can also include tips on sexing which seems to be fun with these guys as well. so come one come all lets post pics of all your umbees and discuss this wonderful species. im halfway considering doing like a fish of the month out of each species. but i have some things to work out, and if everyone likes that idea then ill try to take all the pics submitted in this month and put up a poll where everyone can vote. i think itll be fun. it is nice to see those great picture taking skills too but i dont wanna count out the guys who arent as good with a camera. so if this works out then i would like it to be based on the fish and not the pic so to speak. so lets kick this month off with a bang:)

I too am looking forward to seeing what ends up on here :naughty:

Alright! This month should be good! I'm just sad that my shipment of festae came a day late! haha I'll be keeping an eye on this one though for sure!

My pair just spawned again for the second time:) I have videos and. Pics. I will post mine soon.my male is now 12-13" and female is 10-11" . My male is really blossoming:) can't wait to get pics up.

well i am yet to have any big guys. but i have 5 small guys im growing out. about a year ago i picked up two 1-2 inch umbees. grew them out and they both ended up female. so i kept the prettier of the two and gave the other to a friend.

i then picked up 5 fry and am growing them out trying to get a male. they are between 3-4 inches now. they have been growing a little slower then i expected but still growing. there are two that i know for sure are female. the word is still out on the other three...

these guys eat great!! with ever fish i have ever had there seems to be the times were they just dont want to eat, and i end up pulling food back out of my tanks. not will my umbees. they eat anything and everything i put in there.

they started out in a 55 with a pair of atromaculatus, and everyone did just fine. then the umbees got to big and started picking on my female atro so time for them to move on up... went into a 125 now with 3 ornatus and a urothalmus.. everyone seems real good. the urothalmus likes to chase everyone but no problems yet.

about 2 weeks ago my female umbee, about 8 inches somhow jumped out of the tank. i found her on the floor the next morning. was my first loss of a fish i really liked. was weird almost like losing a friend. so now i am trying to get a pair out of my 5.

well here are some random pics i found on my computer. most are of the little guys but there are a couple older pics of the female i lost.
