so far seeing many tanks in the media lounge over the years, ive seen a good mix of stingray tanks.

but the question is, what do raykeepers prefer? a mix of different specied rays, or a tank of the same type of their favorite species (usually black)?

Really hard to pick a preference, if your goal is breeding then you would want a single species
setup. But I like the look of multiple species in a community setting.

i believe on a few occasions ive seen breeding within a commune, of the species, and some hybrids.

i guess this post was meant to be, all tank-mates aside, thinking of the mixing of ray species only.

Oh it is done, but in a community ray setting with multiple mature males you
cannot guarantee with 100% that a pup is pure, even if it looks to be. And
even if it is pure it will be hard to sell to a purist because people will always
have doubt in a community setup. Add on top of that the ability for the
female to have multiple mates per litter.

Right. I have a MM and 2 motoros in my comm. tank, but plan on separating them when them get bigger so i can keep the pure species.
