I have been given this Display Case which I plan to develope into a reptile Enclosure:
36" x 18" @ 25" tall enclosure
My intention is to make an elaborate styrofoam "background" to create landscape...
This will be planted with tropical plants that will suit the environment...
This will include a water feature that creates a "stream" running down a hill, likely with a small waterfall and a vaporizer on a timer to create desired humidity...
I can easily add a UVB light to create a UVB basking area, but do not wish to work in a large light that will offer UVB to the entire enclosure...
Heat lamps can be added as needed to acheive desired temps for species selected...
I wish to select a couple species of small reptiles/amphibians that can coexist. I understand it is widely suggested to have single species enclosures and I understand I am throwing this common suggestion out the window.
My thoughts are to use a mix of species that occupy different areas or are active at different times. For example an arboreal lizard that is active during the day and an arboreal lizard that is nocturnal. And/Or an arboreal lizard that is active during the day and a nonarboreal amphibian...
The temperature/humidity of this enclosure can be adjusted to suit anything that requires 80F+ and anything from 30~100% humidity... But all species selected must require the same range of parameters...
Two species I am very interested in keeping in here are Lygodactylus Williamsi (Elect Blue Dwarf Gecko) and Rhampholeonn Brevicadatus (Bearded Pygmy Gecko)... Although due to differing parameters (primarily heat) I will have to choose one or the other.
I am in no rush to slap this thing together and plan to take my tame making it nice. But I will need to decide on a temp/humidity range early in the development to help me select plants that will thrive in this environemnt.
Here are a couple other Vivariums I've put togher and this will be the accumulation of experience I gained from these...
Rubber Boa Enclosure:
Potential Dart Frog Enclosure (with dying overheated plants):
8' x 3' @ 3.5' tall Tegu Enclosure (with 6' 125 gal on top):
So what species do you think I should try together in this thing?
