I don't know, but I'm very interested, because I ran into an almost identical spider on my travel trailer the other day. I am deafly afraid of small spiders, and deemed it a brown recluse, as I do all brown spiders that aren't wolf spiders. lol

Tarantulas & known non-deadly/flesh-eating spiders are no big deal....I will pick them up, but I don't take chances if a bite can eat my arm off.

Deafly? You go deaf with fear? lol ... j/k, I do the same thing with all the brown spiders that come in with my cricket orders at work. Not messing with any of them just in case. 0_o;;

Anyway, really interesting looking spider, can't wait for someone to ID it.

LoL I have a fear of insects, well always had a fear of them. My little bro wanted to kill it and i said no let it go and i told him its not doing anything bad to you right. his responce, what if it gets in the house and i get bit, or if you got bit you would regret.my responce, I dont care just let it go and so we did lol

I do not mess with the non-wolf brown spiders normally, unless they are in a position that I can euthanize them with 0% chance for failure. I figure that a brown recluse is called a recluse for a reason, and generally will stay out of my living space. I never see them in areas I frequent.

And yes, I meant DEAFLY, and not DEATHLY. lmao :ROFL:

I just read that wolf spiders are venemous....but non-aggressive...

I have one that lives in the corner of the window in my office. I throw him a bug every now and then if I swat something big enough to throw. lol Once, a wasp flew into his web and he ran out quickly and attacked it. I wish I could've caught it on film.

ALL spiders are venomous.... but most do not have potent enough venom to cause any serious damage to us.
"wolf spiders" consist of a ridiculous number of different species most of which are actually some of the easiest to confuse with a brown recluse.....

This one looks like some type of crab spider based on the body shape...

From what little bit of research I did....It looks very similar to a lot of picture I see of some species of "Orb Weavers", which includes a lot of spiders. lol I think web design plays a big part in amateur spider identification...

I never realized there were soooo many different kinds of spiders.

Okay.... IMO, I think most people realize that all spiders have venom. The general idea is that most people only refer to a spider as venomous if they can cause a human to be sick or die....I know this is technically wrong, but its the way it is outside of a scientific environment. I read that they are venomous enough to cause human sickness, though.

I'm thinking from now on, all spiders die on contact if inside the house or office.

My general rule...If it's outside and fat, it's doing its job...If it's in my house (smaller little garden spiders get picked up and placed outdoors), it gets smashed by way of shoe. :)

I'm with Piscine (some sort of orb weaver), looking up random spiders (starting out by looking up the ones in Southern California) here's what I found:
