For future refrence if you have a fully cycled tank it tests stable over a few days test's so you add a few fish.

if there is a ammonia spike say what is the recomended course of action? should you.

A do a water change to keep control of the spike till the biological filter adjusts.

or

B leave the tank be so that the beneficial bacteria adjusts.

It all depends how high it spikes. A spike up to 1 I would leave it alone. Anything higher I think the bacteria is going to need a little time to build up and some water changes will give it the extra time. Also if you already have a high PH the Ammonia is going to do more damage to the fish.
