I picked up a group of six juvie Phoenix barbs a few weeks ago and am in the process of moving them (at about 2-2.5") to my outdoor pond. Before I do, though, I have one important question: how prone are they to eating soft-leaved plants like cabomba, hornwort, and vallisneria? I don't mind losing the plants, but I don't want to offer them up as an all-you-can-eat buffet if I can help it!
In their quarantine thank they have proven to eat just about anything that is dropped in, but have left the java fern in that tank alone (again, they are small). Then again, not much eats java fern so that probably isn't the best predictor of any green-eating habit they may have. Any feedback on if they will eat plants?
