I hung an extra filter on my tank today and put peat in it to try to soften the water. My fire eel jumped into it. When I tried to get him out he freaked out and jumped onto the floor (carpet) He looks bad now (lost a lot of his slime coat, sand in tank is sticking to him)... Any advice on what to do to possibly keep him alive?
