Spiny Eels: Where are they from?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats cool. How big are they? Ive never seen them available locally.

Also, are they infact a spiny eel? I just guessed based off of the hours of thumbing through Dr. Axelrods books when I worked at a LFS and noticing they looked like one....

They are in the same genus as the spiny eels, so I guess so. I would like to know the range of pH they would tolerate, I'd like to add one to my eel collection.

I'll start a thread about it, see if we can draw any experts.

Id assume being from a rift lake that they tolerate higher pH and the like. My theory is...as long as it is between 6-8 and stays that way any fish is fine in it!

If you can get a good deal on it (I paid cost when I worked at a LFS) Id jump all over it!

If someone can verify that they can be kept in a lower pH than is typical for African Rift lakes, I probably would buy it.
