Its been about a week and a half and he is eating very little solid food. I feed him a fruit smoothie so it he would get all the nutrients he needs. Any help or sugestions?

What are you feeding it? How old is it? What are the cool/hot temperatures in the enclosure? Is it being kept in a high traffic area? Are you stressing it by holding it?

basking is 87.6 cooling area is about 78 i spray his cage once a day and suprisingly this iguana is very calm. I know they have a reputation for being jumpy but this guy named Rocky loves to be handled. He likes wandering and loves coming out his cage. Not being kept in high traffic

Your basking temp needs to be 120+..........88 Degrees is like sitting in a Refridgerator to these guys........

Agreed, and that might have something to do with the calmness. Bump up the temps...also the little spinys I've kept or cared for rarely showed interest in fruit/veggies but would chase live insects all day.

will do i tried crickets and he doesnt even seem interested he is more interested in the fruits. He starts flicking his tongue like a monitor lizard and licks the fruits. I even cut bite sized pieces for him and all he does is lick it. A couple times he actually bites it when i keep pushing it when he licks it. He loves the smoothies and i put banana, mango, apple, a table spoon of juice and yogourt for calcium.

He is 13 inches exact got him from petsmart and i asked about the age and you know how helpful they are they said their not sure. I am estimating he is about a year - year and a half old. They said that he was eating cale and he has calcium bumps on his tail. Took him to the vet the vet said he will be just fine. Also strange enough, noticed he loves water so i put a container for him to dip into when he feels. The substrate is coconut fibre to maintain humidity and he is shedding at the moment. Will post some pics and probally a video tomorrow.

My friend at petsmart ended up giving me him for free:)

I agree. Bump those temps up and then see what happens.

If you got if from Petsmart you should be focusing on feeder insects like roaches, superworms, etc. The species we carry is listed as omnivorous but rarely takes any interest in fruits or veggies. They will eat them but they tend to be more interested in other foods for the main part of their diet. Also, we don't use high quality feeders or fruits/veggies, so keep an eye on it's health for a bit.

You need to raise up the temperature, too. You're keeping your tank at what it would have been at during the night time after we shut off all our lights and lamps (save for the night bulbs), so he's probably a bit chilly.

Looking forward to the pics, there are a few different species, hopefully we can pin that down.

Definitely up the basking temps, not sure what you're using for heat but I use halogen bulbs to get a nice hot spot.

You defenetly need to increase the calcium and fiber levels in the food. These iguanas do just fine on a regular green ig diet with more protein and sligthly more fruit. Ive been hearing pretty good things about feeding mazuri tortoise food soaked in water to Ctenos as well. Check greeniguanasociety.org food chart on the things that should be your ig food staples and grind it all so it doesant choose a bit and refuses the rest. Just fruit, even the ones your using are a poor choice by themselfes. Insects can be used in small amounts. I dont think your iguana is tame, I think he may be weak and your mistaking that for tameness, once he is better you will see a Cteno true nature ;)
