Splake

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They top out around 20lbs and grow pretty fast. They can reach 20" in 2 years in the wild. Not sure on the length or girth when full grown.

the info I've seen is 26" by 7 years, about 13-16 by 2 years but I haven't been able to find other data to back this up.

Hatchery specials:irked:

Ok let me rephrase my question in general what is the known and accepted maximum length seen in Splake of reaching their maximum life expectancy.

Not always.

In Maine they are.

One site said age 4 fish were 16-18". I would say double the age and 24-26" would be about max.

Thanks that's what i figured. Though they are "Hatchery specials" they actually are capable of reproducing through an infinite number of generations. That being said it has happened in captivity but not yet recorded in Maine lakes.
