Does anyone know exactly what this is or what it means? I thought it looked amazing so I bought it assuming it’s a color variant of red empress but I would like to know more about it.

Split gene albino means they have the albino genotype and a normal phenotype. They carry the albino gene but do not display it. They look like normal Protomelas taeniolatus "red empress".
The interessting part should be their offspring because split gene albinos will have a higher chance to produce albino fry.

Have you seen red empress with this coloring before? I’ve only seen blue face with red or redish iridescent coloring

The first picture is very blurry. But it looks like it has not colored up properly yet.

Without knowing the parents or their origin it's difficult to tell how much red one can expect since everything is nowadays called red empress.
