Split tail

Hey every body

My bichir bit my gar on the tail and its now split will it heal up?
Sounds like a dumb question but i'm asking because ive seen and older gar that had a split tail which never fused or healed back together, how would this happen?
I dont want my gar to end up living the rest of its life with a split tail.

im sure it will heal ok. you should just take some extra precausions to make sure it doesnt happen again. do you have a picture of the tear?

Sorry dumb question its tail seems to be healing up well just got a bit paranoid after seeing an adult gar with a permanent split in its tail.
