Hey guys so I was wondering if it would be ok to use a sponge filter with a baby piranha? Sadly my first piranha did not make it over the night, he got stuck on the filter intake. I put panty hose thinking that would be enough but he still got stuck.. The supplier is great though and has another one he will send me. I have a sponge filter I was thinking about putting in the 20g and turning off the Aqueon 20 125gph. The one I just recieved was 3/8inch long so I assume this one will be right a long that size as well. Would the lack of current be ok for him if I only run the sponge filter for a while?

A sponge filter will be fine with fry. Or you can place a larger screen box on the Aqueon inlet strainer to reduce the amount of suction per cm/sq. The Aqueon intake can even be attached to a sponge filter lift tube to accomplish the same suction reduction while still maintaining the use of the filter and it's substrate.
