Is the lift tube required for the sponge filter to work correctly? I have a sponge filter but no lift tube on it and was wondering if it makes a big difference.
Bubbles traveling up the tube force water up with them. Water is then pulled in through the sponge. No lift tube = no lift. Can you adapt something onto the filter?
Does length on the tube matter? I have a lift tube for a smaller sponge filter that fits on it, its just not as long as the one the bigger sponge is supposed to have.
Sort of, yes. The shorter the tube, the less water gets forced up by the bubbles. You can create more flow by adding an extension...even sliding a piece of tubing over your short lift tube.
THE LONGER THE TUBE THE MORE WATTER YOU WILL END UP MOVEING. i USE TO LIKE AND TAKE A POWERHEAD AND STICK IT IN THE END OF THE TUBE HAVE OTHER END IN THE SPONGE. WORK LIKE A CHAMP
