Sponge filter problem

My jag is home. Ok this may sound dumb but I can't get my sponge filters to stay down. Yes I know how to make them sink. No exaggeration I have squeezed each about 20 times, they go down about 3 minutes and then I turn around and they are back up. Is to much air or not enough? It's driving me crazy

Sounds like too much air flow. Air is saturating into the sponge making it bouyant.
