Sponge Filter??????

Ive seen these in various fish store tanks an bought two( to try them out ya know).

I got one for my 20L Hospital tank an one for my 10Gal feeder tank

I was curious how well they work?

I put a aqua clear I believe 201 on the one in the 20L cause I dont have a xtra air pump, the 10Gal one is going to be run off the PVC air system I put into my 120Gal stand (since I put in a xtra air outlet/valve to let off any excess air pressure created by my Dynamaster double piston Air Pump.

they work fine, but they look ugly, especially as junk builds up in the cotton. Don't ever change all of the cotton, or you'll lose your nitrifying bacteria.

ok, I really dont care bout looks on these tanks. Just wanted to keep them a lil cleaner than having just a airstone.

Ahhh thanks for telling me that, I prolly wouldve done something stupid an cleaned that off, lol.

make sure to change the water regularly but that is all i use on my breeder tanks so the babies don't get sucked up but i change 50% off the water in my tanks every week to keep nitrate levels down

i only use those on temp tanks.

They work well but like people said in the other posts they always build up all sorts of crap on it. And like with me you have to worry about fish tearing it up. But for how cheap they are there worth it.
