Sponge filters and air pumps

Setting up a 125 with a sump and have a couple questions. I want to have a couple sponge filters sitting in my sump for a quarantine/hospital tank/tub. Would the sponges be cycled if they were just sitting in the sump not running? Also can you recommend a good quality air pump that is capable of running two large air stones and 2 sponge filters? Tank is 24" high if that matters and thanks.

Also if you could recommend a good heater controller for 2 500watt heaters. Lfs sells reef octopus but they say one controller won't run two heaters and I don't think it should be necessary to run two of them.

The sponges won't be cycled if they aren't running in you sump. They may grow bacteria on them from sitting in the water but won't be fully cycled. Look for any deep water pump. I know tetra has the ap150 I think it's somewhere around 6 air devices at 24 inches.
