I was planning on setting up a tank with 2 of those hydro sponge filters. I was going to run powerheads on top of them instead of the air stones. Would it be a problem if I would be using sand as a substrate??

Iv got a cascade 1000 where the inlet sits 5" above sand, and a quiet one 6000 that has the intake 4" above the sand. havent had a issue yet. I even used the cascade as a gravel vac last week and sucked up some sand. Still going strong.
