I would like to setup sponge filters on all of my tanks, however, I dont have any experience with them and am worried that they just don't a good enough job for cichlids.

Does anyone exclusively use sponge filters in there tanks with good results?

My largest tank is a 29 gallon stocked with 1 angel 4 keyholes a small school of tetras.

Thanks - Jighead

Yup, I have a sponge in every one of my tanks, even the ones with fluidized beds. I would use them in conjunction with other filters though. If you want a higher flow, use a powerhead on them, but youll have to rinse them out more often.

The only tank that I would use a sponge exclusively on would be a fry tank.

Would be better to use a couple or more of sponge filters on biggers tanks and clean them alternately to maintain good biological filtration on either one of them.
