well my canister filter has started leaking and i was wondering if anyone uses sponge filters in a large tank? I have a 135 gallon tank and was wondering if 2 #5 sponges with there own pumps would be sufficent for a tank this size?

what's the bio load....I would use them in conjunction with penguin 350s or ac110....thatfishplace.com has good sales on hobs and canisters....I don't know if I would trust them by themselves ...

I had a lightly stocked 110 on a large sponge filter and it was fine.

i have a similiar set up 2 large sponges do a good job with the load but need to be taken out and cleaned thats a pain every couple days to do.. i would shell a quik 50 on an aquaclear 110 and that will do wonders on your water quality overall and will even help keep more bacteria....ac's offer so many options they are just a great all around filter even to have as a back up

I agree but I would go with 2 AC 110s for that tank
