well my canister filter has started leaking and i was wondering if anyone uses sponge filters in a large tank? I have a 135 gallon tank and was wondering if 2 #5 sponges with there own pumps would be sufficent for a tank this size?

I have three tanks just like that for grow outs. I clean the filters once a month and never have any water problems.
