Sponge on Penguin emperor

hi i have a penguin filter 330 i think and i wanted to know if i could put a sponge on the intake and if it would still keep the tank clean without sucking up fry that will hatch in 3 days or should i just go out and buy another sponge filter thank u

Yep, you can. I have sponge filters on nearly every intake I have. They work well, plus helps keep the little ones safe

Absolutely! I run sponges on all of my penguin and emperor filters with the exception of 1.. Just make sure to remove it and squuze it out when you do water changes, they tend to get blocked up fairly easy/quick. I just squeeze mine out into the buckets of water I'm dumping out. Amazing how much junk it will pick up and how fast!
