I can get these $1 for 6 at my local supermarket. Should I use these for a trickle filter(vs pot scrubbies)? The sponge looks like the material in a sponge filter. Probably not the exact same thing, but seeing how efficient sponge filters can be, maybe a bunch of these things stacked together will be good filtration? :P

looking to purchase the media tomorrow(or today since it's past 12)...any advice at all would be great :)

For Mechanical or Biological filtration?

Those look like the one I tried to use. It rotted and fell apart in a couple of days. Try one and see how it goes, then buy more if it works out. Also, test it without fish for a while in case anything leeches out of the adhesive between the pad and sponge. Or just go with scrubbies and call it a day.

I've actually had these floating in my tanks for a month or two(planned seeding media for new tank) and they did not rot, just concerned about lack of ability to house enough BB. I guess scrubbies to be safe if I can find them cheap, otherwise back to these :P

Not sure if you can find them in your area... but I just bought 6 x 6 bags of pot scrubbies and it cost me about $6.30 or something. Under 20 cents a scrubbie...
