So I've had my 25gal with a filter.. of course. However, I'm getting interested in using sponges or potscrubbers. However, I'm new to that so if I get some, where the heck do they go? :ROFL:in the tank? In the filter? wth? LOL :nilly:

ps- i read some commercial potsrubbers/regular pad scrubbers contained some antibacterial things on the coating? Is that true? I know id have no problem with the sponges but...?

Also can I use live sponge and regular store sponge?

They go in the filter generally. What type of filter do you have? Do to space issues I think they are generally just used with sumps and wet/drys.

Uhm the filter was a gift but its a Topfin 20.. There is a little space. So could I just cut up like a small piece?

Since it's an HOB filter your not going to get much in there maybe only one or two scrubbies. If you want to do it you can unroll them so you can stuff them in easier, but imo it might be more efficent to get the cerimic rings and dump them in there. They will hold more BB in less space than the scrubbies. But you'll spend probably between 10 and 15 dollars for that where youll only spend $2 on the scrubbies so it's really up to you. You shouldn't need a ton more BB for smaller tank anyway so the scrubbies would get the job done.

I just remembered your PS too - don't get any with additives. Just get the plain cheap plastic scrubbies that you see everyone on here using. If you try to stuff the green pot scrubbers in there you'll probably just end up with a clogged mess. There is a sticky about the different kinds of media and what all their pros and cons are in the filtration section. It might be worth checking out for you, I found it very informative.
