What do u guys think about putting sponges / scrubies under the under gravel filter ?Do u think this will greatly improve the bio filtartion or do u think there will not be enough water movment under there to help?I have been a carbon guy for a long time do to the way i was schooled:nilly: at petstore a long time ago but now i have gone to the 1$ store and got a load of sponges and stuffed them in the hang ons and threw out the carbon.I have just been thinking about how else to make use of my old ugf system incorperating sponges.

The gravel above you UGF should be enough.

scott brite srcub pads are a great bio media for a filter.

The gravel is more than enough surface area for the biofilter on an ugf.I think the scrubbies wouldnt improve anything and may actualy make the filter less effiecient by slowing down the water flow and clogging
