Fairly recent pick up of mine which all of a sudden has these white spots on his fins but not on his body. Never had to deal with ich before so not sure if that is the case. Sorry for the terrible pics, they are on his dorsal, pectoral, and caudal fins from what I can see. I do 3 30% water changes a week and the tank has been running for over a year with no major issues before ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 10ppm before water change that I just did and temp is 76F. Want to get it treated up before I move everything over to my 75g.

Hard to see from the pics. But mine has similar, but worse. Mine I think is from fin damage that hasn't healed well, like scar tissue I guess. Def not whitespot in my case.

Treat the fieh with API General Cure. Follow the instructions on the package.

In most cases what you see on the fish pictured above is non-pathogenic and nothing to worry about. Wild caught fish sometimes come in with parasitic cysts that need and intermediate host, like if the fish is eaten by a bird or something. Otherwise they just die after a while and leave a tiny white bump.

The OPs fish looks like it has Anchor worm. Going by the top photo.

Yes, worms - got those once - and never, ever want them again. Took me a couple of MONTHS to FINALLY get rid of them. NOTHING worked, until I dosed with CopperSafe. And even with Coppersafe, it took a couple of weeks to finally get rid of the worms.
So nasty - never had such a hard time getting rid of anything before - but the fish were not affected so badly. They are more irritating than anything else, and ugly, especially when bloated with fish blood. Yuck!

I got them, feeding a shiner from the bait shop that had been frozen for weeks - It took only one.

I missed and important part of my treatment suggestion before because I was rushing. I addition to treating the tank with the General cure you should treat with Meth Blue in a bath. Add 1 teaspoon of meth blue to 5 gallons of aquarium water. Leave the fish in the bath for 30 mins and return to the tank. The combination of GC in the main tank and the Meth blue bath should get them. Do this every day for two weeks. This are tough to get rid of and you must make sure you get them completly. Sorry for the rushed post before. Copper safe is also an alturnative, I like the the meth blue bath & GC tank treatment. GL.

With a bath you can get a higher concentration then if you treated the whole tank. I do agree they can be a PITA to get rid of. If one treatment doesn't work you just try another. One thing about MB is you can over dose (to a point) exact dosing isn't critical. 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons is a double dose but if you go over a little no big deal. MB is also very hard on BB so you would never do that in a main tank, only in a bath can you get that kind of a concentration without destroying all your nitrifying bacteria.
