It's a growth my rd has had these I did a wc then added salt

Looks like a wart. My fh got one of these before. Just use salt should go away.

It looks like your melanurus is several years old. It' not uncommon for older fish to develop small bumps on some of their fins. As long as it's eating and otherwise healthy, it's nothing to worry about.
He Is a vieja synspilium and is only about a year old and these spots are on both sides and I have been using salt for about a month, I guess I have been seeing a little improvement, but just want to make sure it isn't contagious.QUOTE=Aquamojo;6482649]It looks like your melanurus is several years old. Its basically a number of very small ulcers that will go away in time as long as the fish are kept in very clean water and not stressed.
Incidentally... it is a Melanurus... formally Synspilum, as I recently learned myself - Synspilum is now an old name and its now been grouped with all color variations of Melanurus

Wow that is great info , I had no Idea about the name. And thanks for the info on the ulcers, that is good to know.
