Spotted Breeding?

notice my big 20"er rubbin up on my 15"er and swimmin side by side. is that a sign? any output on what it takes to make it happen?

That is dominance behavior and has nothing to do with affection or spawning.

very rarely do gar breed in home aquaria. but if im not mistaken there are gar hatcheries but they wont breed in home aquarium. im not sure excactly why though.

Gar have been bred in captivity in both private and public aquariums. It is not that they will not do so.. it is no one has really tried very hard to work out how to do it regularly. Most captive spawnings so far (without hormone induction) have been luck or chance and not so repeatable.

Some of Us are however working very diligently on this....

i have heard of hormone inductions alot. i know that they will/can breed in captivity. it is just very rare. and when you sucessfully breed them let me know.
