I just got a new baby RTC about 4 " long and I was first scared that they would hate eachother cause i didnt think a lot of Cats get along, especially since my spotted cat is very territorial about where he hides with the pleco. But they keep sitting next to eachother and the spotted cat seems to bring the RTC food. And if the RTC doesnt eat he nudges it at him. Are they gonna be safe together or not?

Also one of the RTC's gills looks like it has gill curl but its not really curling just looks like the flap that lays over the gill rakes is bunched up a bit and exposes the gills a tiny bit. He still gorges himself but is this gonna be ok.

my rtc x tsn had a small thing membrane like layer passing his plate... I think this is from hard water (because all of my other params were on point, but my water was a tad hard) I did some water changes with declored distilled water with some aquarium salt and added a second air stone and he has healed.... Also my rtc x tsn chill together a lot, no agression other then feeding time. If i feed them when they are near each other my hybrid will straight hold the tsn down until he has his fill. Then he will swim off to his favorite cave. Only thing I would possibly worry about is the rtc growing to fast and down the road eating Your spotted.... Good luck and how about some pics?

aight lemme get the cam tell me if his gill will be ok when u see a pic iv never seen anything like it..... looks pretty wicked.

there he is...... only that gill is like that the other one is fine.

Umm I'm no expert on this but that looks like it might be gill curl... You want your water to be absolutely pristine, with excessive aeration! If the gill doesn't look like it's getting better you may try messaging it back down (i know easier said then done) if it gets worse however you may need to get it trimmed. Does s/he look like s/he's breathing heavily or normal?

kinda heavy yes, but then again i got him yesterday so i thought its acclimating..... it wasnt breathing heavy in the store.

What is the spotted cat your talking about? Its not a pictus is it? If it is it will def end up as lunch and could possibly end up killing your rtc.

nono not a pictus its some crazy one that doesnt have a common name its like Synodontis gallinae.

hmmmm the thing is i have seen gill curl b4 and it looks like the gill is flaring out, and its just bunched up in a ball on the RTC.
