There aren’t many puffers that can be “community “ fish, and my little guy seems to get along well with everything. So far he’s had silver dollars, snakeskin gourami, blue gourami and mosquito fish as tank mates.I’m going to be setting up a 75g semi planted tank, and I was wondering if he would do well with amazons , or maybe a red eye red tail puffer or similar? I think the amazons would work unless they are too neurotic, and most other puffers are too aggressive. I know puffer communities can be tricky, but there is going to be a lot of stuff in the tank to break up lines of sight and provide cover. I also know it might not work, and I’m reaching out for a voice of experience.

I know at P professorjimjam tried mixing the two for a bit. I can see it going either way - if you are able to cater to the needs of both it should work well.

I’m hoping too! I am going to have a backup tank available to move the spotted Congo puffer to incase things don’t work as well.
I would fill it with the spotted Congo puffers if I could afford them!

Yes. Spotted Congo puffers are the most peaceful puffer species among all puffers.
they do not bother eating the cherry shrimps not even their baby cherry shrimps . I bought some cherry shrimps a live food treat for them but then these cherry shrimps multiplied as the puffers never ate them or attached them. If they die however they will eat them but as long as they move, my pufffers will not eat them. I tried even staving them for couple of days to see if they will eat the cherry shrimps but they did not. They will eat larger snails and larger earth worms but will not eat cherry shrimps or other fishes. So I would say Congo spotted puffers are more peaceful than guppies.

That’s weird. Mine eats bloodworms, earthworms and fish flesh mostly. He wouldn’t touch anything but bloodworms at first, but he’s adjusting and accepting more.
