spotted gar and a janitor fish?

Nope not gonna work. BTW all spotted gars in the Philippines are mislabeled and the real name is Florida gar and around the world janitor fish is called placo. You probably got a common pleco which is notorious on sucking on slime of ganoid scaled fish (Bichirs and gars).
 
placo or pleco? thanks.. i think its one of the common ones.. its brown though.. what can i place in with the gar? to keep it company? it seems to enjoy the mildly strong current from the filter.. florida gar huh.. whats the diff between spotted n florida in juvies?
