Does anyone know if these "gars" will be compatible with discus? As far as I know they should be but there is a website stating that it will fight other tank mates.

Thanks!

Alright do you know if they are related to hujeta's?
I am getting a hujeta along with discus and I want to make sure it'll work.

In my experience, my 6" Boulengerella would try to eat anything that was 4" or smaller, even tall bodied fish which were obviously too large. I had to get rid of mine, when I got my angels because I was sure he would kill them.

Also, discus are prone to bacterial infections which feeders are loaded with. I would say that if a feeder has a bacterial infection, and your spotted gar does not eat them right away, you are taking a risk.

Boulengerella are cousins to hujeta gars, I have never kept hujetas, but I would imagine they are similar. However, hujeta gars are MUCH easier to get onto frozen foods, which I would recommend if you are keeping it with discus.

although maculata is a peaceful fish, i totally agree with bro "Industrial" in terms of feeding habits. Discus is a very sensitive fish to bacterial infection and my macu is never able to feed other than gold fish. Habit wise, they would do fine but feeding wise, its just not a good combo.
However, do post pics when you decide to do it nonetheless...
cheers

I was getting a hujeta before and I am seeing if that will work with the two. As far as I have heard they should do fine. If that does not work I will stick with discus only.
