hey guys,

I've been thinkin about adding a spotted gar to my tank, but i usually wont add a fish until i get opinions from fellow MFK members.

I currently have a 125 gallon tank housing 3 bichirs (6-12 inches), a NT Danoid (6 inches), possible a IT Datnoid (3 inches), 4 tinfoil barbs (7-8 inchs), 2 parrot cichlids (4 -5 inches) and an aussie arowana (5 inches)

I was wondering if the gar could live with them. I know, first of all, you are prolly thinking the arowana will be too aggressive, but he's not. He ignores everyone, and if he does attack anything, he will be the first one to leave the tank. I know gars grow fast in the first year, but none of the fishes i think he would bee able to eat. am i right?

will the tank be too small for him? will he be too aggressive? and how much would he cost? I'm hoping he stays under 24 inches at max size. He seems to be the smallest one i could keep.

any comments? any feedback? any concerns i have to look out for? any tips?

im sure everything you tell me would be valuable and I'm lookin forward to hearing from you guys

cheers!

what are the dems of your tank, and how big is the gar you plan on adding..

Florida/spotted gars max 18-20" in home aquaria.. soI would get a tank atleast 2' wide, as for tankmates it sounds alright, but watch out for the smaller fish.. Just incase he tries to eat them, with gars its always a possibility

Gars are illegal in California and asking of price of an illegal species is not allowed.
