Ive been in contact with a couple of gar farms lately...namely RFI and Shark aquarium...claiming to be selling "oculatus" farmed in asia?

As far as I know, there are no farms working with spotted gars commercially outside of the United States. Odds are that both of those sellers are just selling plain old Florida gars; I'm pretty sure that the validity of the IDs (or lack thereof) has come up before (especially RFI).
nah, they would be FLGs coming out of there (99.9% chance or more)...it even seems historically unlikely that SPGs would have gone out there given most "spotted" gars in the trade are FLG, and that's what we would have exported even back in the day--

To the OP talk to solomon. He clarified the spotted gar thing for me pretty well.
