My cousin keeps his spotted gar in a 40 gallon tank and feeds it once every three days. He's had it for about eight months now. Initially, it grew at a rapid rate but upon attaining its current length of slightly over a foot long (12-13 inches), its growth rate has declined dramatically. I know that this is atypical for a spotted gar since they're supposed to attain a maximum length of three feet. Is there any particular reason as to why it has stopped growing so quickly? Just curious, thanks.
