I just saw a 16" spotted gar for sale on craigslist and i was wondering how big they get. Could they live in an 180g for life, and if so would they be compatible with 2 oscars a pike cichlid and a black arowana?

maybe not the aro. watch that. what are the dim. of the 180?

6'-2'-2'

that tank is fine for the black. and the 180 prolly wont be good for life for the gar, but will be good for a good couple years.

yeah it's a bit of a stretch for the gar they get right about 2' in adult length, and you alsways want the tank wider than your fish are long

i agree that the 180g wont be good for life for the gar if it gets 2', but i have to wonder if itll go to a better home then a 180g, someone will probably buy it and cram it in a 55g.

its a shame and youre prolly right. you see that too often. i think the 180 will be better than were he would otherwise end up.
