i've been at a conference in louisiana since last week, and have been fortunate to go out sampling with some grad students from one of the universities down here...pictured below is a spotted gar straight out of the bayou!--

thanks for the comments guys; i was out collecting with them today (monday) and will be able to use some of the data for my research as well. will probably compile more of our sampling photos into a thread/album in the near future when i get back to Michigan. we're hoping for some even more interesting stuff tomorrow...will keep you posted--
