Recently i have added 2 spotted gars about 6" in my tank. I have one silver arowana(8"), One Texas(8"),two oscars(6" & 4") in the same tank. I had 2 arguses before. But they always try 2 bite my other fishes fins specially my 2 gars. They damaged their fins so badly so finally i had 2 remove them from my tank. I used 2 feed all my fishes live guppies. But the problem is during feeding time my gars r having very difficult time 2 find it's food. Though i put lots of guppies in my tank but my other fishes finish them so quickly that there is hardly any guppy remains for my gars. And also my silver aro sometimes trying 2 bite my gars. What i need 2 do now? Plz help me guys.

pretty much your only solutions:
A) Rehome the gar
B) Rehome the other fish
C) Get the gar their own tank.

you can try using a feeding stick to get them on prepared food, but using a feeding stick at every feeding just to keep the food away from the other fish can be tough and you may find the fish will take the food anyway from the gar. If it were me, I'd get those gar their own tank, but you def. need to separate these tankmates.

pretty much what jordan said.

agreed...
seperate the fishes...

We say this as if they truly care.

Thanks again guys for ur solution..........but actually the problem is solved by itself.......gars r eating well....... & no biting at all........just i am placing much more guppies than before.......

the problem did not "solve itself". it's just putting off the inevitable. eitherways that should not be the way to go about the problem. all those fish do not live well with gars, and sooner or later

a)the tank will get ammonia spikes due to ovrefeeding
b)the cichlids get bigger and demand more food, leaving the gars to starve
c)this is the inevitable, and will happen sooner or later. your tankmates will eventually turn on the gars and hurt them badly/kill them.

That's similar to what i was going to say. It's just a temporary fix.
