Could you give some more details about your tank (Filtration, tankmates etc) as well as your husbandry practices (Feeding, waterchanges) also please explain in detail what you mean by convolutions..

A lot more detail in several areas may help figure this out...

if it is convulsing my first instinct says back injury of some sort...gars have also been known to knock themselves out and twitch quite a bit (almost seeming dead afterwards) and then snap back to normal.

but as stated above, i would provide some of the requested info on the tank situation so we can better help. also a picture of the gar would be useful too--

ps-- those water parameters are fine, so i wouldn't mess with any of that stuff for the time being.

First impression is also back injury or other neurological issue.. seen this in different forms with a few different causes...some being pretty weird...

okie! i do 30% water change every week! he's in 135 gallon tank! tank mates are small longnose gar and a baby tsn ! nothing to worry about! he eats shrimp i put pelits in the shrimp for more nutrition. and for the convoltions hes eyes go down and he just moves around the tank uncontrolin way ! swimming into glass rolling upside down his head twiches to one side! then ofter that he swims away fine foe a min. or two! then rests on the bottom!! maybe swim blader disorder! i can't figer it out!! never seen it before!! i'v kept fish for years!!

I doubt a swim bladder disorder.. Gars do not in general have such issues and if they do they are usually very dead from it..

The issue and problem is neurological here but I can not really tell you why or what has caused it..Nor can I tell you much about how to fix it. Really when this occurs it either straightens it's self out or the fish will need to be put down for it's own welfare. It is up to you to decide whether to keep the fish alive or to end it. Sometimes this does work out but in the majority of cases it does not. If the fish shows severe disability and inability to feed or live a normal life it would be better to end it rather than continue.

damn it!! ithink your rite! it's needs to be put down i think! i love fish!! it hurts to have to do this!! thanks for your advise!!
