i have a 100 gal FW tank 8 silver dollors black skirt tertras some dinos my ? i seen some cool looking Spotted Green Puffers in the loco pet store can i put them in my tank thinking 3 or 4 of them

my girlfriend put one in my tank with my 4 oscar fish. suprisingly he has not been eaten by them. But, you must be carefull with these puffer fish. They are actually pretty agressive and will nip off fins of other fish. I have actually seen my girl's puffer eat a minnow bit by bit like a piranah. haha. Wanna see something cool? Go look up Pea Puffers. they're basically super tiny green spotted puffers haha.

we have 3 pea/dwarf puffers and at first we only had one and wanted to see if it would be okay in with 3 panda cory, 2 ghosts and a hujeta gar, well it was fine.. at first. It waited until we turned the lights out to go to sleep (they watch you just as much as you watch them) and when we woke up everything was missing chunks of their fins except the puffer, needless to say it is in a species only 10 gallon with 2 other peas, they are quite aggressive and just because they look like they are fitting in at first they might not be lol. and i've heard peas are supposed to be less aggressive than other puffers so I'm not sure

well first green spoted puffers are brackish, beaning part freshwater and part salt water, im in shock there not dead for any of u

u keep them with oscars are bad bc if they are eaten than ur oscars are prob gonna die bc they are poisonous

and last thing all pufferfish have teeth that grow like a mouses or rabbits and need to chew on hard things, so a uffers main diet should be snails, crayfish, large shrimp. if they dont chew on hard things than there teeth will grow so long that they cant close there mouth and than they will die

keeping the puffers with the oscars is not a good idea, might very well result in an eaten puffer and a dead oscar as well. I'd go brackish with these, definitely not in a small setup with tetras

green spotted puffers are brackish fish, some people keep them in fresh but it's not good for them, they need brackish water and as they mature they can be kept in full marine but high end brackish is fine.
no tank mates are suitable other than sometimes another puffer, i had one that lived in brackish with some sailfin mollies they lived together for many months then one day the puffer bit one clean in half ,they have a very nasty bite :)
