LFs has an eel in stock they have no real clue what the hell it is. They said it was listed as spiny yellow tail eel but they weren't 100% except that the pictures looked the same.

The body is a light beige color with black mottled markings on it and the tail is a yellowish tint colored.

Getting a pic isn't possible so sorry there. Anyone have any idea what I am talking about or trying to describe?

Looks somewhat like this except the black markings are much smaller and not nearly as bold. Also, the finnage on the back end is very yellow/seethrough

Found this pic also.. it's not a great pic but it looks enough like the same fish that I feel comfortable posting the pic as it:

Could be the same eel tuff to tell with that pic even with a good pic IDing spiny eels is pretty difficult

I have a couple of those in my tank. I believe they were once classified as a different species than the tire track eel. It was later put into the same classification as the tire track eel. If you search the Internet for "black spotted tire track eel" you will find info on them. My bigger one is about 18" and do eat small feeder fishes. The body shape is more slender than the tire track eel. Also the head is more pointed. It is more friendly and come out more often than my tire track eel. It will also follow my finger. Mines are trained to take cut fish pieces from my hand.

The fish in the second pic is an Indian Yellow tailed eel M.panclas, one of the smaller eels reaching about 8 inches .
